  • What is the Yokohama Youth Soccer PSI Program (“PSI Program”)?
The PSI Program has been established as part of Yokohama Tire’s support of youth soccer in the communities that we serve. The program recognizes eleven (11) soccer players, between the ages of 13 and 18 years old for their academic excellence, sportsmanship, and commitment to community.
  • How are winners chosen?
Any youth soccer player who play on one of Yokohama’s sponsored clubs or within the Heartland Soccer Association League (19/20 Season) are eligible. Either the player’s parent/guardian, or their respective soccer club coach, can nominate a player who has achieved academic excellence, demonstrated superior sportsmanship, and has exhibited a commitment to his or her local community.

The Yokohama PSI Selection Committee administers the selection process for the program. All final selections result from a collaborative effort and are made by the Committee.

  • Who can nominate a player?
Nominations can be made by a parent, coach, or administrator of the respective player’s club.
  • What does a PSI Program winner receive?
All winners will receive a trip to London, England in August, 2019 with Yokohama Tire to experience an unparalleled soccer experience with Yokohama Tire’s global soccer partner, Chelsea Football Club, accompanied by one parent/legal guardian.
  • Does acceptance into the PSI Program affect high school or college eligibility?
All winners are selected based strictly on the following criteria – academic excellence, sportsmanship, and commitment to community. This is NOT an athletic award and a nominee’s athletic achievement or skill will not be evaluated as part of the selection process. However, Individuals who are student-athletes representing a member school within a state association of his/her state of residence in the sport of soccer, as an interscholastic sport (“High School Athlete”), may be ineligible to accept this award according to the rules and regulations of his/her state association.
