2018 Slammers FC Classic Driven by Yokohama
Today, our Tournament Officials made the difficult decision to cancel the Slammers Classic 2018. Southern California is expecting a heat spike, with excessive heat up to 111 degrees in the forecast. This led to this painful decision and not one we made lightly. Our primary concern will always be the safety of all participants.
We are disappointed with the result, but every alternative option was explored – from moving the tournament (an impossibility given the size of the event) to condensing the schedule (an impossibility with no lights on all 20 grass fields). But in the end, knowing the forecast ahead of time and notifying all of our participants well in advance was important to us and forced the decision to cancel.
On behalf of Slammers Classic, we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused but players safety will always come first. We appreciate you supporting our decision.
We have worked with SilverLakes Summer Cup to offer you an alternative opportunity to play. SilverLakes Summer Cup is offering you a spot in their tournament. Though the registration deadline has already passed they will open it up for any Slammers Classic attendees to join their tournament. There will be no additional cost and we will simply transfer your payment to Slammers Classic to SilverLakes Summer Cup with no refund to you. If you would like to play in the SilverLakes Summer Cup please email their Director no later than Saturday at 5pm to insure your spot. email@example.com
